Collection of "Labels for Education" for Salish Ponds Elementary School: SIG collects tabs from commercial items to help the school in their fundraising efforts.

PAL Back to School event: A program designed to maximize buying power and purchase supplies at huge discounts is used. Last year the club was able to purchase $2,168.25 worth of school supplies for $245.02, which is a savings of 91%. Members logged over 100 volunteer hours in support of the fair. These included communication and coordinating school supply needs, purchasing items, delivery and collections as well as helping at the event.

The Soroptimist Teddy Bear Parade is a feature event of Gresham. Held in historic downtown Gresham every September (for 29 yrs), young and old love to participate and attend. Thousands walk, ride, dance, sing and karate chop along the city blocks. The Wells Fargo wagon pulled by their magnificent horses along with classic cars, high school bands, police, fire crews and neighborhood associations, give the crowd a spectacular show. Filmed by Metro East Community Media, it is watched by thousands.

Susan G Komen foundations Race for the Cure: SIG sponsors members to participate for "Team SI Gresham".


Adopt a Family for X-Mas: Club members have participated for several years in this project that identifies local families in need and provides holiday experiences to them.

Human Trafficking awareness: We support the efforts of the NWCAT conference and have additional awareness volunteer opportunities.

Strawberry Shortcake sales and SAVE: Soroptimist Against Violent Environments (SAVE) is a coalition of local Soroptimist clubs who work to prevent domestic violence and support local domestic violence non-profits. This annual fundraising effort is held each mother's day weekend at Portland Area New Seasons Markets. Through SAVE the club awards monetary grants to the shelters and has opportunities each month to contribute to projects that support them.

Dress for Success: This program collects business attire and accessories to distribute to program participants. The women receive a variety of resources and encouragement as they enter or reenter the job market. SIG members contribute items to the program as well as provide volunteer hours.

Bellringers Salvation Army holiday ringing of the bells: In friendly competition with other local service groups SIG takes a day to ring the bells outside the Gresham Liquor store.


Gresham Salvation Army annual auction: The auction helps fund the dynamic after school programs it provides. SIG is proud to support them in their efforts. The Gresham Salvation Army was a recipient of a grant from SIG to help them expand after school resources.

Snow-Cap Community Charities annual auction: The event provides funding for the many areas of service that they give in the community. SIG provides volunteer hours to help them with baskets for the event.

"Fight With Elegance" fundraising events: The fund provides assistance to those who are not able to afford a mammogram. A voucher, issued through Snow Cap Community Charities, is provided to someone in need from within the surrounding community. They use it to receive a mammogram through a local imaging company. The imaging companies have reduced their fees as low as possible, that way they are able to extend the service to as many women as possible. SIG is proud to support this local effort.

Good News Community Health Center: The clinic, located in the Rockwood area, was the recipient of a grant to help them fund the expansion of services to provide dental care to patients. The clinic provides care to those in the community that are underserved.
